Aconite is traditionally used for the symptomatic relief of the early stages of the inflammatory process such as fever, dry, short & hacking cough, colds, influenza, earache, vomiting. Aconite suits symptoms that come on suddenly; often during the night, after exposure to dry, windy weather or after a fright.

ACONITE NAPELLUS – Monkshood
Indications: Mainly used in home prescribing for treating the early stages
of colds. Useful for the first stage of the acute inflammatory process, such as symptoms of fever, croup, colds, influenza, earache, vomiting, diarrhoea, travel sickness etc. The remedy is best taken at the first sign of illness and may need frequent repetition, reducing doses when improvement is obvious. Ailments often come on suddenly during the night after exposure to dry, windy weather or a frightening experience. Repeat often.
Causation: Fright; shock; anger; chilling in cold dry wind
• Acute, intolerable pains, burning internally
• Sudden intense onset
• Rapid fever with hot dry skin, constricted pupils
• Restless and anxious, may fear they will die
• Intense thirst for cold drinks
Better: Open air; rest; wine
Worse: Fright; shock; midnight; touch; cold wind and draughts
Desires: Cold drinks
Aversions: Tobacc
