Bryonia alba – White bryony
Indications: Hard, dry cough with pain under the sternum aggravated by coughing and any movement even breathing deeply. Also helpful for headaches, colicky abdominal pains or rheumatic joint pains which are worse from movement. Can be peevish and dislike being carried. Peevish appetite. Even when ill tends to think, worry and even dream about his responsibilities.
Causation: Injuries; broken bones; taking cold; a soaking; anger
- Achy, stitching pains
- Irritable when disturbed
- Very thirsty for cold drinks
- Dry cough, pain when coughing
- Dry mucous membranes, tongue coated white
- Severe headache, worse from movement, even the eyes
- Painful joints and broken bones
Better: Being left alone; pressure and rest; windows open and cool air
Worse: Movement; heat; warm weather; touch
Desires: Large amounts of water, cold or warm; beer; oysters; coffee
Aversions: Coffee; fats and rich food; meat; milk
