Shock

Always think of your remedies along with standard first aid procedures to reduce the impact of shock whether it is from physical injuries or to soften emotional trauma. Unresolved shocks and trauma can result in ongoing physical and/or emotional effects on a person and make them lose their sense of balance or centre.

Physical Shock from Injuries and/or Wounds
Physical shock is usually marked by cold, pallid skin, irregular breathing, rapid pulse and dilated pupils.

Arnica: Shock with bruising and damage to soft tissues such as skin and muscles.  Arnica has long been used to relieve shock on all levels, physical, mental and emotional. The person says they are Ok and don’t want to be touched.
Cantharis: Burns where there is severe pain and even blistering of the skin. Phosphorus is indicated for electrical burns.
Carbo veg: States of collapse with faintness; collapse; exhaustion; chilliness; cold sweat; gasping for air; wanting to be fanned; flatulence and distension.
Hypericum: For shock symptoms after injuries to nerves and nerve rich areas such as finger tips and the spine.  Shooting pains, numbness and tingling.

Emotional Shock
This is the body’s response to extreme fear or fright, stress, pain, or helplessness. Symptoms include: disorientation; confusion; agitation; restlessness; and feeling ‘dazed’.

Aconite: Agitated, restless, fearful and anxious after a sudden shock and maybe convinced they will die. They may have palpitations and hyperventilate, producing symptoms of pins and needles and numbness throughout the body.
Gelsemium: Subdued, sleepy, dull, weak and tremulous – in a sense paralysed by the shock. Droopy eyes, fearful, sad and listless.
Ignatia: Emotional shock with hysterical reaction. Rapidly changing moods, sighing and crying with sobbing. Unwilling to communicate, introspective and prefers being alone.
