Homoeopathic remedies have a traditional use of being of support in the healing of emotions and physical trauma after childbirth.
Arnica 30c May assist in the management of aching, bruising, and soreness. May be useful before, during and after labour. May be supportive both emotionally and physically to overcome shock in mother and baby.
Belladonna 6c May be useful in the first 24 hours of the acute inflammatory process. May assist in the management of symptoms associated with mastitis, where fever, heat, congestion and throbbing pain are present.
Calendula 30c May be used as a remedy to support healing, particularly after procedures such as episiotomies, tears or caesareans.
Ignatia 30c May be used where there is a sense of disappointment with some aspect of the birthing experience. There may be sighing, an inability to cry or to stop crying.
Pulsatilla 30c Traditionally Pulsatilla is used where the mother is weepy, feels unsupported, has changeable moods and need lots of sympathy, company and encouragement such as during the ‘Baby blues’ phase after childbirth. May feel worse in a warm, stuffy room and better for company.
Staphysagria 30c Is traditionally used to help manage emotional and physical healing following caesareans, episiotomy and tears. There may be feelings of guilt, anger and resentment if things did not go as planned. It may be use in combination with Calendula.
Tissue Salts 6X (Calc Ph, Kali Ph, Nat Mur, Silica) A combination of low potency homoeopathic tissue salt remedies to help with recovery from childbirth and establishing feeding patterns. May also help with symptoms of colic in babies.
