Broken bones: The following remedies are especially helpful to support calcium metabolism, reduce pain and assist repair of the fractured bone. Arnica can be taken regularly, as a general treatment. This is the first remedy to think of in any accident, shock, fright, mental strain, physical trauma, bruising, concussion, black eyes, and hemorrhage situations. Arnica promotes wound healing and alleviates any stress or trauma carried over from the injury or any surgery required. Rhus Tox and Bryonia – alternate 2 hourly to relieve pain. Rhus Tox is suited to painful stiffness especially around joints. Better – for movement and worse after lying or sitting, with difficulty in getting up and moving. Bryonia is associated with red, swollen, hot joints. The person may be irritable, wants to lie completely still and be left alone. The pain is worse from movement. This is often needed after Arnica and alternated with Rhus Tox helps reduce bruising, swelling and pain. Ruta Grav – is useful where injury/surgery involve cartilage and/periosteum, or where the bone is close to the surface, and severe contusions. It is similar to Arnica with stiffness and pain in joints and a bruised weakness/weariness. Hypericum – for injuries to nerve fibres, especially crush injuries – fingers, toes etc. Cuts and abrasions. Reduces pain and addresses nerve damage. Shooting, sharp pains. Use in combination with Arnica, especially after surgery, repeat often for pain. Symphytum – twice daily, to speed healing and for prickly pains on healing. *Eupatorium – aching, throbbing pain in the bones. Ruta Grav and Rhus Tox – 4 hourly for non-union despite good management. *Tissue Salts- (FerrumPhos, Calc Fluor, Calc Phos, Silica). This is a combination of low potency homoeopathic remedies selected to assist the body to recover and repair after trauma. Repeat 3 times daily.
